What does Japan Genmaicha taste like?

Above all, it is a very mild tea. The roasted cereals and the hazelnut give character to the cup, without making it strong. Roundness dominates, followed by a light vegetal finish.

The roasted notes are well present, but should not be confused with bitterness. This Genmaicha is particularly suitable for those who wish to rediscover gourmandise and mildness in a green tea.

How to prepare this Genmaicha to preserve its mildness?

Steep the leaves 2 to 3 minutes in water between 75 and 80 °C, then remove them. Water that is too hot or an infusion that is too long risks accentuating the bitterness and masking the roundness of the cup.

For your first tasting, start with 2 minutes. During subsequent preparations, adjust the duration within the recommended range according to your preference.

The same leaves can be steeped several times. Shorten the subsequent infusions, then taste to find the balance you like.

When to enjoy it and with what?

Japan Genmaicha is enjoyed in the morning, the afternoon or during a meal. Its great mildness and cereal notes pair well with rice-based dishes, grilled fish, Japanese cuisine and unsweetened salty snacks.

For a first discovery, taste it alone before pairing it: you will more easily appreciate its roundness and roasted nuances.
